Overview

CACNA2D3 antisense RNA 1 (CACNA2D3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the opposite DNA strand relative to the CACNA2D3 gene. LncRNAs such as CACNA2D3-AS1 do not encode proteins but can regulate gene expression at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels, often through antisense interactions with their sense counterpart genes[4]. Antisense RNAs are increasingly recognized as important regulators of gene expression, but as of now, there is limited published information specifically about the biological role or disease associations of CACNA2D3-AS1. There are currently no known drugs, biomarker roles, or therapeutic interventions directly targeting CACNA2D3-AS1[5]. This molecule is classified as a regulatory non-coding RNA rather than a traditional therapeutic target such as an enzyme, receptor, or channel. It is not a protein-coding gene and is not considered a canonical therapeutic target.
