Target intelligence / Profile preview
VE-cadherin, also known as Cadherin-5 or CD144, is an endothelium-specific adhesion protein located at junctions between endothelial cells (ECs), playing a critical role in maintaining vascular integrity and regulating cell-cell adhesion within blood vessels. It is indispensable for maintaining cohesion and organization of intercellular junctions in endothelium and regulating vascular permeability. It has been studied as a potential therapeutic target for modulating vascular permeability in disease contexts such as cancer metastasis or inflammatory disorders.
