Overview

Cadherin EGF LAG seven-pass G-type receptor 2 (CELSR2) is a large membrane protein with nine cadherin ectodomains, several EGF-like domains, and a seven-pass transmembrane region typical of adhesion GPCRs. It mediates essential processes such as planar cell polarity, tissue morphogenesis, neural wiring, and cilia organization in vertebrates. As part of the noncanonical Wnt/PCP signaling pathway, CELSR2 organizes and stabilizes cell–cell contacts, regulates migration and axon guidance of neurons, and may impact lipid metabolism and cardiovascular risk. Alterations in CELSR2 function or expression are associated with defects in embryonic development, adult synaptic integrity, dyslipidemia, and possibly other diseases. Research continues to elucidate its therapeutic potential and mechanistic roles[1][2][3][5].
