Calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor component protein (CRCP) is a multifunctional adaptor protein that serves as an essential intracellular partner in the CGRP receptor complex, coupling the calcitonin-like receptor (CLR) and receptor activity-modifying protein 1 (RAMP1) to intracellular signaling pathways leading to increased cAMP[1][3]. CRCP also acts as a specific peripheral component (subunit C9) of RNA polymerase III, forming part of a mobile “stalk” important for transcription initiation and immune DNA sensing[2][3]. It is involved in transducing neuropeptide signals that regulate vascular, pain, reproductive, immune, and proliferative cellular processes. Dysregulation or altered expression of CRCP is implicated in migraines, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and several rare inherited diseases, reflecting its diverse roles in physiological and pathological contexts[1][2][3].
