Overview

The calcium channel protein L-type subunit alpha1C (CaV1.2) is the pore-forming alpha-1C subunit of the voltage-gated L-type calcium channel complex. It mediates the influx of Ca²⁺ into cells following membrane depolarization, playing a critical role in excitation-contraction coupling in cardiac muscle, smooth muscle function, and neuronal signaling. Mutations or dysregulation can be associated with disorders such as Timothy syndrome or Brugada syndrome.
