CALHM6 antisense RNA 1 is a non-coding RNA transcript processed from the genomic region antisense to the CALHM6 gene, involved in modulating the expression of CALHM6 by mechanisms common to antisense RNAs such as transcriptional interference or mRNA stability regulation[5][2][3]. CALHM6-AS1 itself does not encode a protein, but its regulatory role may influence CALHM6, an ion channel involved in ATP export, immune synapse function, and the activation of natural killer cells[4][1]. There is currently no evidence that CALHM6-AS1 functions as a direct therapeutic target, nor is it known to be the focus of drug development or used as a biomarker in clinical settings.
