Target intelligence / Profile preview
Calponin 2 pseudogene 1 (CNN2P1) is a non-protein-coding region of the human genome related to the calponin 2 (CNN2) gene. Pseudogenes such as CNN2P1 arise by gene duplication or retrotransposition but typically do not encode functional proteins and are not direct molecular targets for therapy or diagnostic biomarkers. Several pseudogenes of calponin 2 are known, and they do not contribute directly to cellular functions or disease mechanisms[5]. All biologically and clinically relevant activities are due to the parent gene, calponin 2 (CNN2), not the pseudogene.
