Overview

Calponin 2 pseudogene 4 (CNN2P4) is a pseudogene related to the protein-coding gene CNN2 (calponin 2). Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they usually lack the regulatory elements or have disabling mutations that prevent them from encoding functional proteins[5]. CNN2P4 does not produce a functional protein and is not considered a therapeutic target. Several pseudogenes related to CNN2 exist on various human chromosomes, reflecting the historical duplication events in the genome.
