Target intelligence / Profile preview
CAMSAP1 divergent transcript (CAMSAP1-DT) is a non-coding RNA gene transcript located near the protein-coding CAMSAP1 gene. It does not encode a protein but produces RNA molecules that may play roles in gene regulation, such as forming circular RNA species (circCAMSAP1). CircCAMSAP1 acts as an oncogenic factor in colorectal cancer by sponging microRNA miR-328-5p and upregulating E2F1, and is a promising diagnostic/prognostic biomarker detectable in patient serum. CAMSAP1-DT itself is not a classic therapeutic target, and its precise functional roles remain incompletely characterized. Key points: - CAMSAP1-DT is distinct from the protein-coding CAMSAP1 gene, which encodes a microtubule-binding protein with roles in neuronal function and some malignancies. - The entry is not a well-recognized target for direct drug development or classic pharmacological intervention. - Most biological and disease relevance is attributed to the circular RNA (circCAMSAP1) formed from this transcript, with functional impact in cancer settings.
None known (for drugs); CAMSAP1-DT may regulate gene expression via RNA-based mechanisms, such as sponging microRNAs in the case of circCAMSAP1.
