Overview

Cancer cells are the primary target for oncolytic therapies, particularly oncolytic viruses (OVs). Oncolysis refers to the process by which these viruses selectively infect and destroy cancer cells while sparing normal, healthy tissue. This selectivity is due to unique features of cancer cells, such as defects in antiviral response pathways and altered oncogenic signaling that make them more susceptible to viral infection and replication.
