Target intelligence / Profile preview
Cancer-specific plectin (CSP) is a pro-tumorigenic protein variant of plectin that is selectively expressed on the cell surface of various major cancers. Unlike normal plectin, which is typically an intracellular cytoskeletal scaffolding protein, CSP exhibits aberrant localization to the plasma membrane in tumor cells. It promotes proliferation, migration, and invasion of tumor cells, driving metastatic potential. Therapeutic targeting of CSP with monoclonal antibodies or small molecule inhibitors shows promise in reducing tumor growth and metastasis.
