Cancer susceptibility 19 (CASC19), also known by several aliases, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) strongly implicated in cancer biology and prognosis, particularly as an oncogenic regulatory element. It is not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or classic drug target, but rather an RNA gene influencing cancer susceptibility and progression. Cancer susceptibility 19 (CASC19) is a long non-coding RNA gene located at chromosome 8q24.21, containing 324 nucleotides[1][2][6][8]. Highly conserved and selectively overexpressed in multiple cancer types, CASC19 regulates oncogenic processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, autophagy, and therapy resistance[2][6][8]. The regulatory role of CASC19 is linked to genetic variants in the 8q24.21 region, and CASC19 is increasingly viewed as both a promising biomarker for cancer prognosis and a candidate for targeted RNA-based therapeutics[2][6][8].
