Canine Parvovirus VP2 Protein (VP2)

Target
VP2
Molecular classification
Viral Capsid Protein, Structural Protein
01

Overview

The VP2 protein is the major capsid protein of canine parvovirus (CPV), a small, non-enveloped, single-stranded DNA virus that causes severe disease in dogs. The VP2 protein is critical for viral infectivity, host range determination, and immune recognition. It facilitates host cell attachment via interaction with the transferrin receptor (TfR) and mediates viral entry. Mutations in VP2 can lead to antigenic drift and immune escape.
