CAP1P1 is a pseudogene version of the cyclase-associated actin cytoskeleton regulatory protein 1 (CAP1). Unlike the functional CAP1, which regulates actin filament dynamics and is involved in nervous system development and some cancers[2], CAP1P1 does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and contain disruptive mutations that prevent protein coding. While some pseudogenes can affect gene regulation or act as competitive endogenous RNAs, CAP1P1 has not been clearly linked to such biological functions nor to any disease role[3]. Summary: CAP1P1 is a non-coding pseudogene with no direct therapeutic relevance, biomarker status, or documented biological or disease function as of current knowledge[3].
