Capecitabine metabolite-induced local toxicity refers to tissue-specific adverse effects, primarily hand-foot syndrome (HFS) and mucositis, caused by the accumulation of active metabolites of capecitabine, particularly 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), in tissues with high thymidine phosphorylase (TP) activity. This localized drug activation leads to cellular damage and inflammation.
