Target intelligence / Profile preview
Capicua homolog pseudogene (ENSG00000275875) is a *pseudogene* related to the functional Capicua protein-coding gene (CIC). Pseudogenes are defunct genomic loci with sequence similarity to functional protein-coding genes, but they generally lack gene expression or protein-coding capacity due to disruptive mutations such as frameshifts and premature stop codons[1][3]. Pseudogenes like ENSG00000275875 are not believed to encode proteins or have a direct biological or therapeutic function. The functional CIC gene, in contrast, encodes a highly conserved transcriptional repressor involved in nervous system development and cancer, but those functions do not apply to this pseudogene[2][3][4].
