Overview

Capicua transcriptional repressor pseudogene 7 (CICP7) is a non-coding DNA sequence in the human genome that is classified as a processed pseudogene[5]. Pseudogenes like CICP7 originate from duplication or retrotransposition of parent genes but do not produce functional proteins. While some pseudogenes can regulate their parental genes via RNA-mediated effects, there is currently no evidence that CICP7 has significant biological or disease-related functions. Its parental gene, capicua transcriptional repressor (CIC), is a conserved transcriptional repressor important for normal development and tumor suppression, but this does not extend to its pseudogene CICP7[4][5]. Given its lack of protein-coding capacity, CICP7 is not a receptor, enzyme, or valid drug target.

Mechanism of action

None documented (No known drugs or experimental therapies target this pseudogene)

03

Biological functions

As a pseudogene, CICP7 does not encode an active protein. Unlike the parental CIC gene, it is not known to act as a transcription factor or have regulatory functions[1][5].
04

Disease associations

No established disease association for CICP7.By analogy with other pseudogenes (see Table in search result [3]), some pseudogenes play roles as microRNA sponges or competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) that modulate gene expression, but there is no specific evidence for CICP7[3].
05

Safety considerations

None documented (as it is not a therapeutic target nor functionally active)
06

Interacting drugs

None documented
07

Biomarkers

None documented
