Capillary bed microcirculation

Capillary bed microcirculation is the network of branching capillaries and associated small blood vessels (arterioles, venules) within tissues and organs responsible for the exchange of oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and waste products between the blood and the surrounding cells. The microcirculation is a structural arrangement rather than a specific molecule or receptor, and consists mainly of endothelial cells lining the vessels, pericytes, and supporting extracellular matrix components. It regulates tissue perfusion and is essential for maintaining organ function. Disruptions in capillary bed microcirculation contribute to various pathologies including impaired organ perfusion, edema, and inflammatory diseases.
