Disease Roles
Capillary Wall Overview
The capillary wall is the thin cellular barrier forming the boundary of capillaries, the smallest blood vessels. Composed primarily of a single layer of endothelial cells and a basement membrane, its structure facilitates the bidirectional exchange of gases, nutrients, and waste between the blood and surrounding tissues. Its permeability is tightly regulated and its dysfunction is implicated in a wide range of diseases.
