Target intelligence / Profile preview
Carbonic anhydrase 3 (CA3) is a cytosolic enzyme that belongs to the carbonic anhydrase family. It catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide and is involved in pH regulation and CO2 transport. CA3 is highly expressed in skeletal muscle, liver, adipocytes, and other tissues. It is distinguished by its relatively low catalytic activity compared to other carbonic anhydrase isoforms and is linked to autoimmune disorders and protective responses to oxidative stress.
