Target intelligence / Profile preview
Carbonic anhydrase XIV pseudogene is a genomic locus resembling the carbonic anhydrase XIV gene, but it is predicted to be nonfunctional, lacking protein-coding capacity. Pseudogenes do not produce active protein and do not have known biological activity or therapeutic relevance. The protein-coding carbonic anhydrase XIV gene (CA14, ENSG00000118298) encodes a functional enzyme involved in the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide and several physiological processes[1][3]. However, the pseudogene version is an inactive genetic copy often annotated as LOC440700 or similar in some databases[7].
