Carboxyhemoglobin is a stable complex formed when carbon monoxide (CO) binds to hemoglobin (Hb) in red blood cells. This binding impairs the blood’s ability to deliver oxygen to tissues and can lead to hypoxia and toxicity. It is not considered a therapeutic target.
