Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1)

Target
CEACAM1
Molecular classification
Immunoglobulin superfamily, Type I transmembrane protein, Cell adhesion molecule

Overview

Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1), also known as CD66a, is a multifunctional glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It plays significant roles in cell adhesion, immune regulation, angiogenesis, and cancer biology. CEACAM1 is a type I transmembrane protein with multiple isoforms generated by alternative splicing and is expressed on epithelial cells, endothelial cells, leukocytes, and various cancer cells. It mediates cell adhesion, modulates immune responses, promotes blood vessel remodeling, and is implicated in tumor progression and metastasis. It interacts with PTPN11 and Annexin A2.
