Target intelligence / Profile preview
**CARD8 antisense RNA 1 (CARD8-AS1)** is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 19, adjacent to the gene encoding caspase recruitment domain family member 8 (CARD8)[1]. While the CARD8 protein is involved in inflammation and immune response, CARD8-AS1 itself has no known protein-coding potential and is classified as a non-coding RNA. It has been proposed to play a regulatory or biomarker role in diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and possibly neuroblastoma, though its specific biological function and therapeutic potential are not well established. Its expression may sometimes result from transcriptional noise due to proximity to the CARD8 gene, rather than reflecting a defined functional role[1]. There is no evidence that CARD8-AS1 is a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor.
