Target intelligence / Profile preview
CAS1 domain containing 1 pseudogene (ENSG00000271454) is a noncoding sequence in the human genome bearing similarity to the protein-coding CASD1 gene, which encodes an enzyme involved in O-acetylation of sialic acids. As a pseudogene, ENSG00000271454 does not encode a functional protein and has no known biological or therapeutic role. It is easily confused with CASD1, a gene encoding a sialic acid O-acetyltransferase implicated in cell–cell interactions and carbohydrate metabolism[2][3][4]. For most research or therapeutic purposes, only the protein-coding CASD1 gene (not this pseudogene) would be relevant.
