Target intelligence / Profile preview
Casein kinase 2 alpha subunit (CK2α) is the catalytically active component of casein kinase II (CK2), a highly conserved serine/threonine protein kinase. It plays a central role in numerous cellular processes, including cell cycle control, DNA repair, and regulation of circadian rhythms. Deregulation or overexpression of CK2 has been linked to cancer development due to its anti-apoptotic properties.
