Target intelligence / Profile preview
Caspase-10 is a cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) enzyme that plays a critical role in the extrinsic (death receptor-mediated) apoptosis pathway. It is an initiator caspase activated by death signals, leading to the activation of downstream effector caspases and ultimately cell death. Defects in CASP10 are associated with autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome type IIa and may play a role in other diseases.
Proteolytic cleavage and activation of downstream effector caspases (e.g., caspase-3, caspase-7) leading to apoptosis.
