Overview

Catenin beta like 1 pseudogene 1 (CTNNBL1P1) is a noncoding DNA segment on the X chromosome that closely resembles the coding CTNNBL1 gene, but contains mutations or deletions that prevent it from encoding a functional protein[2][3][5][6]. Pseudogenes like CTNNBL1P1 are considered nonfunctional by default, though recent research indicates that some may have regulatory roles through RNA-mediated mechanisms, such as acting as microRNA decoys or influencing the expression of their parental gene[4][5][6]. CTNNBL1P1 does not fit conventional therapeutic target classes like receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor. There are no known drugs, biomarkers, or direct disease links to CTNNBL1P1 itself. Its main scientific significance is as a genetic relic and potential modulator within the CTNNBL1 locus, but current data do not support its use in targeting or therapy[2][3][5][6].
