Cathelicidin (CAMP)

Target
CAMP
Molecular classification
Antimicrobial peptide, Cationic peptide, Immune effector molecule
01

Overview

Cathelicidins are a family of antimicrobial peptides that play a crucial role in the innate immune system. In humans, the only known cathelicidin is LL-37, encoded by the CAMP gene. They exhibit broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and also function in chemotaxis, angiogenesis, wound healing, and immune modulation. Dysregulation of cathelicidin expression is implicated in various diseases, including skin disorders and infections.
