Overview

Cathepsin V is a human lysosomal cysteine protease belonging to the papain-like protease family. It is involved in antigenic peptide release and maturation of MHC class II molecules, and also participates in turnover of elastin fibrils. Its expression is upregulated in some cancers and vascular disorders, making it a potential therapeutic target.
