Overview

The CCDC15 divergent transcript (CCDC15-DT) is a long non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the CCDC15 coding gene, arising from bidirectional (divergent) transcription at the CCDC15 promoter region. Its precise function is not fully established, but divergent transcripts like CCDC15-DT are commonly linked to the fine-tuning of gene expression, especially involving transcriptional regulation and development-related genes. While CCDC15 itself encodes a centriole inner scaffold protein critical for centriole and cilium structure, CCDC15-DT does not encode a protein and is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target in drug development contexts. There are no known clinical drugs, disease roles, or safety concerns directly associated with CCDC15-DT at this time.
