Overview

CCR4-NOT transcription complex subunit 7 pseudogene 1 (CNOT7P1) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene in humans, homologous to the functional CNOT7 gene, which encodes a subunit of the CCR4-NOT complex involved in mRNA regulation[1][4]. Unlike the parental gene, CNOT7P1 does not produce a functional protein. Similar to other pseudogenes, CNOT7P1 may participate in gene expression regulation through non-coding RNA mechanisms such as acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) or through antisense RNA regulatory functions, but specific functions for CNOT7P1 have not been documented[2][3][4]. Pseudogenes, including those related to transcription complexes, are generally not considered therapeutic targets, and there is no evidence that CNOT7P1 is implicated in any diseases or is a target for drug development[4]. Its main significance is as a genomic sequence reflecting the evolutionary history of its parental gene, sometimes with potential regulatory non-coding RNA functions typical of processed pseudogenes[2][3][5].

02

Biological functions

May act as a regulatory non-coding RNA influencing its parental gene or related pathways similarly to other pseudogenes (inferred from general pseudogene literature)
03

Disease associations

Other (There is no evidence directly linking CNOT7P1 specifically to disease, but pseudogenes in general can act as regulatory elements and potentially be involved in cancer or other conditions)
