CCT5 antisense RNA 1 (CCT5-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA annotated as antisense to the CCT5 gene. Antisense RNAs are typically involved in post-transcriptional gene regulation by binding to the sense transcripts and can modulate their stability, translation, or splicing. CCT5-AS1’s specific biological roles and disease links have not been well characterized. Its parent gene, CCT5, encodes a subunit of the TRiC complex (chaperonin-containing TCP1), critical in protein folding and implicated in cancer progression, neuromuscular disease, and cellular homeostasis. However, CCT5-AS1 itself is not widely recognized as a druggable or canonical therapeutic target.
