Overview

CCZ1 pseudogene 1 (CCZ1P1) is a pseudogene related to the protein-coding gene CCZ1, which encodes a component of the Mon1-Ccz1 guanine nucleotide exchange factor complex that regulates endosomal and autophagosomal trafficking[3]. The pseudogene itself does not produce a functional protein and has no known direct biological function, disease association, or role as a therapeutic target. CCZ1P1 should not be confused with its functional counterpart, CCZ1. All functional data and disease relevance pertain to the protein-coding CCZ1 gene, not to this pseudogene. Correction note: "CCZ1 pseudogene 1" is a non-functional pseudogene and is not a drug target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter. Most references and characterization pertain to the functional protein "CCZ1" and the Mon1-Ccz1 complex[1][2][3]. If information about the actual, functional Mon1-Ccz1 protein complex is needed, refer to the canonical gene "CCZ1" instead.
