Melanoma Cell Adhesion Molecule (MCAM), also known as MUC18 or CD146, is a single-pass transmembrane glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion, endothelial cohesion, and signal transduction. It plays a role in angiogenesis, wound healing, and hematopoiesis regulation. MCAM is implicated in melanoma progression and metastasis, and serves as a biomarker for COPD and uveal melanoma. It exists in long, short, and soluble isoforms.
