CD20 antigen (CD20)

Target
CD20
Molecular classification
Membrane protein, Transmembrane protein, Membrane-spanning 4A gene family (MS4A)
01

Overview

CD20, also known as B-lymphocyte antigen CD20, is a non-glycosylated transmembrane protein expressed on the surface of B cells from the pre-B cell stage through maturity. It acts as a membrane-bound calcium channel involved in Ca²⁺ influx during B-cell activation and regulates nanoscale organization of receptors on resting B lymphocytes. CD20 is widely used as a therapeutic target for hematologic malignancies and autoimmune diseases, with therapies including monoclonal antibodies like rituximab that bind to CD20-positive B-cells leading to their depletion.
