CD20 Antigen (B Lymphocyte Antigen) (CD20)

Target
CD20
Molecular classification
Tetraspanin, Transmembrane protein
01

Overview

CD20, also known as B-lymphocyte antigen CD20, is a non-glycosylated transmembrane protein expressed on the surface of B cells. It plays roles in B-cell development, differentiation, signaling, and membrane organization. It serves as a key biomarker and therapeutic target in various B-cell malignancies and autoimmune diseases. Anti-CD20 antibodies, such as rituximab, are used to deplete B cells in these conditions.

B-lymphocyte antigen CD20MS4A1Membrane-spanning 4-domains, subfamily A, member 1
02

Mechanism of action

Anti-CD20 antibodies bind to CD20 on B cells, leading to B-cell depletion through mechanisms such as complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC), and apoptosis.
