CD22 antigen (CD22)

Target
CD22
Molecular classification
Type I integral membrane protein, Immunoglobulin superfamily, Receptor
01

Overview

CD22 is a B cell-specific transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as an inhibitory coreceptor on the surface of B lymphocytes. It modulates both innate and adaptive aspects of humoral immunity by setting thresholds for activation signals received via antigen receptors or Toll-like receptors (TLRs). It is an attractive target for therapies against autoimmune diseases or blood cancers involving dysregulated/dysfunctional B-cells.

BL-CAM
02

Mechanism of action

CD22 acts as an inhibitory regulator by attenuating signaling through the B cell receptor (BCR). Therapeutic targeting involves disrupting CD22 function or utilizing it for targeted drug delivery to B cells.
