Target intelligence / Profile preview
CD24 pseudogene 5 (CD24P5) is a non-transcribed pseudogene localized on human chromosome 15[2]. Pseudogenes like CD24P5 share sequence homology with the functional CD24 gene but do not produce active protein products and do not participate in biological processes or drug interactions. Functional CD24 protein is a cell adhesion molecule and immune regulator; however, CD24P5 itself is not involved in these roles. The presence of CD24 pseudogenes is noted in genomic surveys, but their biological relevance remains unvalidated[2].
