CD27 molecule (CD27)

Target
CD27
Molecular classification
Receptor, Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, Type I transmembrane glycoprotein
01

Overview

CD27 is a cell surface receptor and member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily (TNFRSF7). It plays a critical role in immune regulation, particularly in T cell activation and survival. It is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that exists as homodimers. CD27 is primarily expressed on Naïve and activated effector T cells, Natural killer (NK) cells, and Activated B cells. Binding to its ligand, CD70, triggers costimulatory signaling essential for antigen-specific T-cell activation. The CD27/CD70 pathway is implicated in several cancers and soluble CD27 levels are used as biomarkers for immune activity. Anti-CD27 drugs are being evaluated in clinical trials for cancer immunotherapy.
