Target intelligence / Profile preview
CD44 variant 9 antigen (CD44v9) is a specific isoform of the CD44 transmembrane glycoprotein, generated by alternative splicing. It plays a critical role in tumor initiation, maintenance, and metastasis, and contributes to chemoresistance by enhancing the antioxidant capacity of cancer cells through interaction with the xCT transporter and subsequent glutathione synthesis. It is a promising target for cancer diagnosis and therapy, with monoclonal antibodies being developed to specifically target the v9 region.
Monoclonal antibodies (e.g., C_44Mab‐1) target the v9 region
