CD59 molecule (CD59)

Target
CD59
Molecular classification
Glycoprotein, LY6/uPAR/alpha-neurotoxin protein family
01

Overview

CD59, also known as Membrane Inhibitor of Reactive Lysis (MIRL), MAC-inhibitory protein (MAC-IP), or protectin, is a glycoprotein that inhibits the formation of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC), protecting cells from complement-mediated lysis. It is implicated in diseases such as Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH) and is explored as an immunotherapeutic target in cancer.
