Target intelligence / Profile preview
CD70 antigen is a type II transmembrane protein that acts as a costimulatory ligand for the CD27 receptor, primarily expressed on activated immune cells. It plays a crucial role in T-cell and B-cell activation and proliferation. Overexpression of CD70 is observed in various cancers, making it a promising target for immunotherapeutic interventions such as anti-CD70 antibodies and CAR-T cell therapies.
Anti-CD70 antibodies bind to CD70, blocking its interaction with CD27 and potentially inducing antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) or complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC). CAR-T cells expressing anti-CD70 chimeric antigen receptors target and kill CD70-expressing cells.
