Overview
CD74, also known as the invariant chain (Ii), is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that plays a central role in antigen presentation and immune regulation. It acts as a chaperone for MHC class II molecules, guiding them through the endoplasmic reticulum and preventing premature peptide binding. CD74 also functions as a receptor for macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), mediating downstream signaling involved in inflammatory responses and cell proliferation. Overexpression of CD74 is observed in various lymphomas and cancers, making it a target for immuno-oncology therapies.
