Overview
CD79B is a crucial component of the B-cell antigen receptor (BCR) complex. It forms a heterodimer with CD79A, which then associates with surface immunoglobulin to form the functional BCR on B lymphocytes. This complex initiates intracellular signaling upon antigen binding, essential for B cell development, activation, and immune response. Mutations in CD79B are associated with agammaglobulinemia, and specific mutations serve as biomarkers in lymphoma.
