CD82 molecule (abbreviation: CD82), also known as KAI1 and part of the tetraspanin superfamily, is a membrane glycoprotein and metastasis suppressor that regulates diverse cellular processes such as adhesion, migration, signaling, and immune modulation. It inhibits cancer metastasis via stabilization of cell–cell junctions, attenuation of EGFR and TGF-β signaling, and modulation of integrin and other receptor clusters. CD82 is commonly downregulated in advanced cancers and serves as an important prognostic marker for tumor progression; its loss is associated with poorer outcomes. Although it is validated as a therapeutic target for metastasis prevention, no approved drugs currently target CD82 directly—preclinical approaches focus on restoring or mimicking its function using gene therapy or peptide-based agents
