CD84 antisense RNA 1 (CD84-AS1)

CD84 antisense RNA 1 (CD84-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene that transcribes RNA molecules complementary to the CD84 sense transcript. CD84-AS1 belongs to the family of antisense lncRNAs and is affiliated with regulatory functions at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level. While the specific biological significance and functions of CD84-AS1 have not been exhaustively defined, antisense lncRNAs commonly participate in regulation of gene expression by interacting with their sense mRNAs or chromatin. There are currently no established disease associations, therapeutic uses, or interacting drugs for CD84-AS1. CD84-AS1 should not be confused with the protein-coding gene CD84 (a cell surface receptor with known roles in the immune system).
