Target intelligence / Profile preview
CD9 is a cell surface glycoprotein belonging to the tetraspanin family. It plays diverse roles in cell adhesion, motility, membrane organization, exosome biogenesis, platelet activation, muscle cell fusion, and fertilization. Altered expression or function of CD9 has been implicated in immune system regulation, viral infections, and fertility issues. It is also used as a biomarker for exosomes.
