Target intelligence / Profile preview
CDC2-like kinase 3 (CLK3) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in the regulation of pre-mRNA splicing through phosphorylation of serine/arginine-rich (SR) proteins. CLK3 influences gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by modulating how pre-mRNAs are processed into mature mRNAs. It is broadly expressed, with notable localization to cytoplasmic stress granules in testes tissue. Its active site pocket structure, particularly the unique Lys248 residue, influences inhibitor binding affinity/selectivity.
