Target intelligence / Profile preview

Cdc25C-associated protein kinase 1 (C-TAK1)

Target
C-TAK1
Molecular classification
Serine/threonine-protein kinase
01

Overview

C-TAK1 is a serine/threonine-protein kinase that regulates cell cycle progression by phosphorylating Cdc25C on serine 216. This phosphorylation event mediates binding of the 14-3-3 protein, sequestering Cdc25C in the cytoplasm during interphase and preventing premature entry into mitosis. Unlike Chk1, C-TAK1 appears to function independently under normal conditions. Dysregulation could potentially contribute to aberrant cell cycle control, a hallmark of cancer.

Other names
Not to be confused with TAK1 (MAP3K7) or TAO kinases such as TAOK1
